The author comments on the simplicity and elegance with which Richard LaPiere presented on his research on how racial differences affected social behavior which he did by simply interviewing people he met during a cross country tour of the U.S. He talks about the contributions of LaPiere's work "Attitude vs Behavior" which showed that the value of strong external validity in field research cannot be fully accomplished by questionnaires. He says that the study cannot be replicated, which makes it a 'true classic' social psychology study.
