We perform complex investigations of the stress-strain and limiting states of multilayer structures (homogeneous and heterogeneous triplexes) with cracklike defects in their elements within the temperature range 213-293°K. For the efficient determination of the stress-intensity factors near the crack tips in organic and inorganic glass, we develop a polarization-optical method for the values of optical anisotropy lower than 1λ , where λ is the wavelength of sounding radiation. To determine the limiting state of triplexes whose elements are organic glass, inorganic glass, and a binding layer, we propose to use a physicomechanical criterion of the limiting state, namely, the dielectric-permittivity tensor criterion. The strength of four types of triplexes [homogeneous (with and without a frame) and heterogeneous (also with and without a frame)] is analyzed and the optimal structure, namely, a heterogeneous triplex without frame is chosen.
