Principle and method for designing electroacoustic transducers operating in the mode of elastic wave excitation in isotropic solid bodies are discussed. Relations that completely define the entire set of eigenfunctions (normal waves) are derived by solving a homogeneous boundary-value problem of dynamic elasticity. The basic solutions of the boundary-value problem of dynamic elasticity are considered assuming that the source of spatially developed Lamb waves is not axially symmetric. The complex roots of the dispersion equation for symmetric and antisymmetric Lamb waves are quantitatively estimated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
