We study the influence of chemical composition, hot plastic deformation, and heat treatment on the structure and properties of experimental steels used for manufacturing railroad rails. The influence of primary dendritic structure on their final pearlitic structure is established. We also develop recommendations concerning the chemical compositions of these steels and modes of their heat treatment, which would allow one to get high strength and hardness characteristics of steel.
