A recent systematic review and meta-analysis conducted by researchers at the University of Toronto compared the effectiveness and safety of thin-wire and thick-wire cold snare polypectomy (CSP) for small colorectal polyps. The study included 4 randomized controlled trials and 2 observational studies, involving a total of 1316 patients with 1679 polyps. The results showed no significant difference in complete resection rates between thin-wire and thick-wire CSP. Additionally, there were no significant differences in polyp retrieval rate, intraprocedural bleeding, delayed bleeding, or perforation. The researchers concluded that CSP, regardless of snare type, is safe and effective for resection of small colorectal polyps. [Extracted from the article]
