A comparative study conducted in Rome, Italy, examined the efficacy of two opioid-sparing techniques, the Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) and the Posterior Quadratus Lumborum Block (pQLB), in managing pain after caesarean section (CS). The study found that there was no significant difference in total morphine consumption between the two groups of patients. However, the ESPB group had a lower need for rescue doses of morphine compared to the pQLB group. The study concluded that ESPB is as effective as pQLB in providing analgesia after CS.
