A recent study conducted by researchers at Jeonbuk National University in South Korea explored the treatment of painful pelvic and spinal bone metastases. The study compared the effectiveness of conventional therapies such as medication and local radiotherapy with a combination of radiotherapy and a special type of hyperthermia called modulated electrohyperthermia (mEHT). The results showed that the combination of radiotherapy and mEHT yielded significantly better outcomes in terms of pain intensity, medication use, and breakthrough pain episodes. The researchers concluded that mEHT could be a valuable treatment option for radiotherapy-resistant lesions, as it has a lower risk of adverse thermal effects. [Extracted from the article]
