A study conducted by researchers at the Maharishi Markandeshwar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Haryana, India, examined the relationship between substance use and sleep quality in patients with depression and mania. The study found that both substance use and sleep disturbances are common symptoms in patients with mood disorders. The most commonly used substances were tobacco and alcohol, and patients with depression had lower substance use grades compared to those with mania. Additionally, all patients in both groups had poor sleep quality. The study suggests that substance use and sleep quality are interconnected with mood disorders. [Extracted from the article]
