A new research study conducted by investigators at Yale University School of Medicine examines cardiovascular outcomes in lean and non-lean individuals with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The study found that lean MASLD patients have a 50% higher risk of cardiovascular mortality compared to non-lean MASLD patients. However, lean MASLD patients had lower odds of major adverse cardiovascular events, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and dyslipidemia compared to non-lean MASLD patients. The research concludes that despite a favorable cardiometabolic profile, lean individuals with MASLD face an elevated risk of cardiovascular mortality. [Extracted from the article]
