In the literature on consulting one can find two prominent theoretical approaches. On one hand there are studies that draw on the theory of social practices. On the other hand there is a vast amount literature with a systems perspective. In this paper the two approaches are contrasted and discussed with regard to their ability to account for empirical phenomena. For this purpose the basic assumptions of each approach are presented and their consequences for the conceptualisation of consulting will be analysed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
