A recent study conducted at Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital aimed to assess family function in home care for older adults. The study evaluated 53 patients aged 65 or older receiving home care, as well as four home care nurses. The results showed that only 5.7% of older adults reported good family function, and there were strong correlations between assessments by nurses and older adults. The study concluded that home care nurses can effectively assess family function using the General Function of Family Assessment Device (FAD-GF), which can help identify family issues and enhance home care quality through nurse training.
