In Transcarpathian region in Ukraine, more specifically in the Maramureş on the right bank of the river Tisa, there is a number of ten villages with a prevailingly Romanian population, approximately 35.000 inhabitants, who after World War I, were separated from the Romanians on the left bank of the Tisa through state borders. In spite of this, they preserved their language and ancient traditions unaltered. This short article enumerates afew writers of the Romanian language, who inhabit these villages and who have published poetly and prose in the Romanian language over the last 18 years, after Ukraine's proclamation of its independence as a state.
