Czech film-makers paid in the 30's little attention to Slovakia. Sometimes, just used Slovakia as an attractive location. Slovak actors played only in a few movies (1935 Milan Rastislav Štefánik, 1936 Jánošik, 1937 Matčina zpovéd' 1938 Neparažená armáda). An interesting experiment was a movie film Mar(/ka nevérnice (1934, directed by Vladislav Vančura) - shot in with non-actors in Transcarpathian Ukraine. After the Second World War was similar situation. As the main character was the Slovak actor only in the film Nevíje o bytĕ? (1947, directed by Bořivoj Zeman). The film Nikola Šuhaj (1947, directed by Miroslav J. Krňanský) provoked considerable debate about anti-semitism. In 1947 was the first Slovak movie premiere - film Varúj!, directed by Martin Frič.
