The results of an anonymous online survey on the use of mobile technologies by students majoring in 029 "Information, Library and Archival Affairs" of higher educational institutions of Ukraine are presented. The survey was conducted from January 14 to February 14, 2021. The questionnaire contained questions, some of which involved choosing one answer from many (from completely negative to completely positive), some allowed survey participants to choose several positions. The aim of the research was to identify key trends in the use of mobile technologies by university students (ages 18+) and to determine the baseline for the promising areas for the development of a comprehensive library mobile information service. The degree of penetration of mobile technologies into the daily practice of student youth was revealed. Priority for users is the ability to get quick responses to information retrieval (including through the use of chatbots), fast messaging, access to short media content. Also noteworthy are the preferences of the audience to read paper books, lack of interest in gaming content, and moderate attitude to products based on artificial intelligence - virtual assistants. It is more than half of the respondents use mobile devices for watching movies and for distance learning and work. About 80% of those who have heard of augmented reality books and 5% of those who have read such books among Ukrainian students. The survey indicated that the Ukrainian student audience has a percentage of users who are ready to completely switch to the use of mobile devices and abandon the PC, some of them have already made such a transition. Such leading trends in the use of mobile technologies by young people make it possible to predict the set of library services that may be in demand by users in the future. Such services include information and reference service via messengers; development of library mobile applications of audio and video content, educational, scientific, popular science literature and fiction; supplementing the online service with library chatbots. Also, given the uncertainty of the pandemic situation, it will be useful to organize library informing and mobile educational content navigation for distance education.
