German Judicial Administration. Court management, the responsibility of the Federation or, as in most cases, of the Länder, is ensured by presiding judges under the direction of competent ministers. On the whole, the judges and the state attorneys seem to be rather satisfied. However, the jurisdictions must deal with a heavy workload as the number of judges, while high, remains inadequate to meet the full need. Special efforts are being made in terms of continuing education for all court personnel and in the use of information technology, while work organization within the court is currently undergoing a reassessment.
