This guest editorial in the Public Library Quarterly features an interview with Tetyana Svatula, a librarian from Kherson, southern Ukraine, discussing the impact of the war on libraries and librarians. The interview reveals the challenging conditions faced by residents of Kherson during the occupation, including shelling, shortages, and violence. The Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Oles Honchar was heavily damaged and looted. Despite these challenges, librarians in the liberated areas of Kherson continue to provide information literacy training and document the events of the war. The article also highlights the use of information as propaganda by the Russian occupiers and the efforts of librarians to resist these attacks. Russian military personnel vandalized and destroyed libraries, and now Russia is using public libraries in the occupied territories to promote Russification. Assistance is needed to restore library services in the region. [Extracted from the article]
